Syaron Kanyodo in Kuroishi City, Aomori

Enjoy our top quality flavor continuing since 1969

Syaron is our most famous and the longest-selling confectionary named after our shop. We make it by gently wrapping aromatic and silky coffee-flavored cream with fluffy sponge cake. One piece of history of Syaron is that it had been long loved by the Imperial Highness Prince Tomohito Mikasanomiya. Every year when he came skiing to Mt. Hakkoda, he also enjoyed Syaron. Enjoy Syaron chilled after putting it in a refrigerator. It will bring out the delicate harmony between the fluffy sponge cake and aromatic coffee-flavored cream. Or, also enjoy it like ice-cream after putting it in a freezer and half defrosting it. It will be a special treat on a hot summer day or even on a cold winter day if in a warm room.Syaron has received many awards over the years such as the “Prime Minister’s Award” at the National Confectionary Expo, “Gold Award” at the 2017 & 2018 Monde Selection and “Grand Gold Award” at the 2019 Monde Selection.

History of Syaron Kanyodo

Handing down the authenticity since 1969 and growing with it

The history of Syaron Kanyodo goes back about half a century from now. The former owner, Yozo who was getting his pastry making training at “Miura Kanseido” in Aomori City decided that he wanted to start his own confectionary shop in his hometown of Kuroishi; a shop that will be loved by many and spread the culture of Western confectionary. This was a time when the Western confectionery made with fresh cream was still not around since the use of refrigerators were rare especially at homes. With that mission in mind, he opened his shop in the city in 1969.
At this time, the name of the shop was “Kanyodo” with “kan” and “do” taken from his previous employer; Kanseido and “yo” from his own name and also from the word “yogashi (Western confectionary in Japanese)”.

Syaron became a star as a casual Western confectionary

Syaron won the “Prime Minister’s Award” at the National Confectionary Expo in 1984. Also, since when it was first offered to the Imperial Highness Prince Tomohito Mikasanomiya in 1990 when the Owani National Athletic Meet was held, it had become one of his favorite sweets. Every year when he came enjoy spring skiing to Mt. Hakkoda, he also enjoyed the great flavor of Syaron.
We are very proud to say that, since then, Syaron has become a favorite confectionary not only to locals but also to many people across the nation.
